Egyptian astrology
Astrology is the study and interpretation of the planetary movements, stars, sun and moon and how they relate to human events and existence. Astrology has been in existence since ancient times and is widespread in all cultures across the world. Today the types of astrology that are more popularly used are Vedic astrology, Western astrology and Chinese astrology. However there is another type that is lesser known - Egyptian astrology. Interestingly, the classical form of astrology made an appearance in Egypt only after it was occupied by Alexander the Great. In Alexendrian Egypt, the traditional Egyptian Decanic astrology merged with Babylonian astrology to create Horoscopic astrology which was primarily based on Greek astrology tenants of the planets and houses. Just like western, Vedic and Chinese astrology have their zodiac signs, Egyptian astrology too has its own zodiac. In Egyptian astrology, the zodiac signs are each associated with a presiding god or goddess or the river Nile. They also have specific colours associated with them. However while using Egyptian astrology one should remember that the dates don’t correspond with the Western zodiac and instead have date ranges over the entire year (e.g.: Jan 1 - Jan 7, Jun 19 - Jun 28, Sep 1 - Sep 7, Nov 18 - Nov 26). The zodiac, as part of Egyptian astrology, includes the following signs: Nile: These people are tolerant and peace-loving, they think scientifically and analytically, they can be the more angry types. Amon-Ra: These people tend to be generous and are always ready to give their best to everything. Mout: This sign is characteristic of people who are ironic and have high internal abilities. They also bond quickly with others. Geb: these people have a lot of charm and are both sensitive and modest. They do lean towards self-obsession but can go beyond vanity if needed. Osiris: This sign denotes people who have two sides to their personality. They might seem tough but at the same time may be soft hearted and sensitive. Isis: This sign is characteristic of people who are very loyal and united. Thoth: These people are energetic, innovative and courageous. They also like taking risks. Horus: People born under this sign have a shining personality, are intelligent but can also be impatient and intense. Anubis: These people are clever and compassionate. They can tend to be slightly ambivalent and inhibited. Set: People born under the sign of Set tend to be perfectionists and have a leaning towards anger. Bastet: These people are always on the look out for harmony and balance. They also tend to be more anxious and are devoted people. Sekhmet: People who are born under the sign of Sekhmet are assumed to possess telepathy. They also tend to be observant and more authoritative.
